History

Over the years, our affiliate organization has expanded to provide affordable housing to more New Jersey residents and promote homeownership as a means to breaking the cycle of poverty. Each merger has allowed us to streamline operations and consolidate overhead expenses by pooling resources, boards, and expertise.

Timeline

1976

Habitat for Humanity International is founded in Americus, Georgia.

1986

Habitat for Humanity of Trenton Area is founded.

1987

Habitat for Humanity of Burlington County is founded.

2017

Habitat for Humanity of Trenton Area and Habitat for Humanity of Burlington County join forces to work collaboratively towards the same mission of bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope.

2019

The Habitat for Humanity affiliate expands to serve all of Burlington and Mercer Counties, in addition to Plainsboro and Cranbury in Middlesex County.

2020

The affiliate expands once again to serve Atlantic County.

2024

Habitat SCNJ includes Camden County amplifing our impact from the Delaware River to the Jersey Shore!
