2023 Building Hope Luncheon

Thursday, March 16, 2023

We believe when we come together, we can make a big impact. Please join us at our Annual Building Hope Luncheon.

Building Hope Luncheon is Habitat for Humanity of South Central New Jersey’s signature annual event that celebrates community, highlights our work and our partnerships, and shares the success of families with whom we work alongside.

This year’s luncheon will return to an in-person program and be located at the Double Tree in Mt. Laurel. All guests will enjoy a lunch among friends, colleagues, and fellow supporters of Habitat, as well as Habitat homeowners, volunteers, staff, and board members. Together, we will spend time hearing inspiring stories of hope, honoring outstanding partners, and connecting with others in support of the Habitat mission.

Join us in honoring our 2022 Awardees:

  • Corporate Partnership: Rob Saltzman of Pluese, Becker & Saltzman, LLC

    • The Pluese, Becker and Saltzman team has demonstrated an expertise in the intricacies of affordable housing and has greatly assisted Habitat in navigating sensitive and challenging cases over the years.  Their pursuit of fairness, expressed compassion, and never-ending patience are just some of the qualities that make them a community partner worth honoring!
  • Corporate Philanthropy: Phoenix Modular Construction

    • As an organization striving to meet the growing need in our community, our work would be impossible without Phoenix. Their guidance, support and delivery on affordable housing projects has enabled Habitat SCNJ to serve more families, build more homes, and access new grant funding –goals that were previously beyond our reach are now attainable with them as our partners!
  • Outstanding Community Partner: Burlington Lodge #32 F&AM / Take a Veteran to Lunch Committee

    • The group at Burlington Masonic Lodge #32 F&AM has surpassed all expectations of what it means to be a community partner. Their commitment to local veterans and belief in Habitat’s ability to meet their needs has led to the growth of our Veteran Builds Initiative. In the last 6 years, they have raised funds on our behalf and helped us build 2 new and repair 25 existing homes for local veterans. Thank you for making it possible to serve those who have selflessly served others!
  • David McAlpin Humanitarian Award:  Ed Schmierer

    • The David McAlpin Humanitarian Award recognizes the tireless and often thankless efforts made by those who advocate for change and work to break down barriers so that everyone has a decent place to live. With this award, we seek to honor those who demonstrate special attributes like our dear friend Dave, who was a compassionate, guiding force for good and strongly committed to social justice. We find that Ed Schmierer of Mason, Griffin, Pierson firm exemplifies these qualities beyond measure. With over 40 years practicing law, he has been such an influential advocate for affordable housing. His patience, knowledge, and steadfast support of affordable housing projects has helped not only Habitat, but so many others working to build communities in NJ where everyone has a safe, decent, affordable place to call home.
