Habitat SCNJ service area expanded to serve Camden County

Wednesday, January 17, 2024

We are thrilled to announce a significant development in our mission to create affordable housing solutions and build stronger communities. Habitat for Humanity of South Central New Jersey (Habitat SCNJ) and Camden County Habitat for Humanity have come together in a merger that will unite our resources, expand our reach, and amplify our impact from the Delaware River to the Jersey Shore!

This merger did not happen overnight, but rather after months of extensive discussions, shared visions, and a mutual commitment to making safe, decent, affordable housing a reality for more families in need. Habitat SCNJ and Camden County Habitat have long shared the same fundamental values and goals, and we believe that our merger will only enhance our ability to fulfill our mission.

As a result of this merger, our newly united organization will be better equipped to serve more families and advance affordable housing initiatives – now in 113 municipalities throughout Burlington, Mercer, Atlantic, Camden, and parts of Middlesex Counties. This strategic partnership will allow us to pool our
resources, streamline our operations, and extend the breadth and depth of our services, including new housing projects, home repairs, community development, and advocacy for affordable housing.

This merger is not only a reflection of our collective commitment to the community but also a recognition of the strengths, expertise, and dedication of both organizations. Together, we are confident that we will be even more effective in our efforts to provide local hardworking families with a safe place to call home and support communities in building safety, stability, and equity for their residents.

We want to emphasize how hard we are working to make this transition as seamless as possible, with no disruption in services and all staff and volunteers continuing to play crucial roles in our operations. The primary difference is that we will be working together as a single, unified entity to maximize our impact and create a stronger, more resilient organization.

We are ecstatic about the possibilities this merger brings and the potential it holds for transforming lives and communities. We would like to express our deepest appreciation to all of our supporters, volunteers, staff, and partners who have been instrumental in making our work possible over the years, and who will help us continue our forward momentum to build brighter futures for families in need.

As we look ahead, we excitedly anticipate the many opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and growth that this merger will present to us. Together, we will build more homes, empower more families, and inspire positive change throughout South and Central NJ and beyond.

We will keep you updated on new developments resulting from the merger. Thank you for your continued support and belief in our mission. We remain committed to creating a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to call home.
