Join us this June for 2.5 for Freedom,
a virtual 2.5-mile walk to commemorate the 2.5 years it took for the news of the Emancipation Proclamation to reach the last enslaved people in Galveston, Texas. This powerful delay reminds us that freedom, justice, and equity are worth walking for—and working toward—every day.
Registration: May 1 – June 6, 2025
Walk Weekend: Thursday, June 19 – Sunday, June 23, 2025
Registration Fee: $25
Each participant will receive a commemorative “2.5 for Freedom” t-shirt as a show of support! We encourage all walkers to wear their shirts proudly during their walk and share photos with us to help spread awareness and solidarity.
Walk Anywhere, Anytime:
Whether it’s your neighborhood, a favorite park, or even a treadmill—walk your 2.5 miles at your own pace, in your own place.
All proceeds will benefit the Willingboro NAACP, supporting their ongoing work for civil rights, equity, and community empowerment.
Let’s walk with purpose. Let’s walk for justice.
