Habitat for Humanity of South Central New Jersey (Habitat SCNJ), together with its partner Benebone, completed the final touches on a new affordable home in Trenton’s West End neighborhood—a milestone that welcomed a first-time homeowner family into a safe and permanent place to call their own. The effort stood as a powerful example of community spirit and collaboration in action.

On September 4, Habitat professional staff, Benebone volunteers, and the future homeowners came together for a day of service, landscaping the property and finishing the last details of the home’s construction.

Trenton has long been a significant focus of Habitat for Humanity’s mission. Over the years, the organization completed numerous home repairs in the city and built new affordable homes to help meet the growing housing needs of local families.

“This is the third new home made possible through our strong partnership with Benebone,” shared Annie Fox, Chief Development Officer at Habitat SCNJ.

“Their dedication to improving communities shines through—not only by committing to this newest full house build on Murray Street, but also by sponsoring multiple home repair projects and community resource fairs through our Rock the Block events in recent years.

Together, we’re not just revitalizing homes and neighborhoods—we’re fostering pride, stability, and hope for families. We look forward to the positive, lasting impact this collaboration will continue to have on the Trenton community.”

The new home on Murray Street features three bedrooms, one and a half baths, and a modern kitchen and laundry area. Thanks to Benebone’s generous contribution—and the hearts and hands of its employees—the partnership brought to life another step in the company’s ongoing commitment to creating safe, comfortable, and welcoming homes for both people and their four-legged companions.

Since 2021, Benebone dedicated significant time, care, and resources to Mercer County, working alongside Habitat SCNJ to expand affordable homeownership opportunities for local families in need. Benebone team members traveled from near and far to volunteer on Habitat build sites, underscoring the company’s deep investment in the local community.

“At Benebone, we believe in the power of community and the importance of giving back,” said Peter Toolan, Founder and CEO of Benebone.

“Partnering with Habitat for Humanity to construct this new home was one way we contributed to revitalizing neighborhoods and improving lives. Together, we not only built homes but also created a sense of belonging and hope for families in Trenton. We’re proud to stand with Habitat and our community members in this meaningful work.”
