What is Small Steps?
Small Steps is a subprogram of Neighborhood Revitalization that seeks to support small-scale revitalization, sustainability, and community building efforts.
With the support of local communities and individuals such as yourself, we believe these “small steps” will make a big impact.
Where?
This round of Small Steps is looking for neighborhoods in Atlantic County!
- Do you live in Atlantic County and want to inspire your neighbors to take small steps to revitalize their home and community?
- Could you and your neighbors use minor fixes such as landscaping, painting, minor carpentry repairs including decks, doors, porches, steps, and more?
- NOMINATE YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD TODAY!
How it works:
- Cost: $50
- $25 will to go Habitat for Humanity
- The homeowner will use the remaining $25 to purchase an item for a neighbor’s exterior! (Flags, planter, flowers, lawn ornament, etc)
- For $50, the homes selected within the nominated neighborhood will receive $500 worth of Home Preservation repairs (minor, exterior repairs including painting, power washing, landscaping, minor carpentry repairs and more).
- Homeowners will work with Habitat staff to determine what repairs will be completed.
Homeowner Selection:
(Within the nominated and selected neighborhood)
- Must live within the boundaries of selected neighborhood
- Must OWN home for a minimum of 3 years
- Must be your primary residence
- Certify you have no intention to move or sell the home for 3 years
- The home must not be an investment property
- Must be current on mortgage, property taxes, insurance, and all municipal lien-able accounts.
*Homeowners will NOT be required to submit income verification, but will be asked to estimate their total gross yearly income.
